Think tanks

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

With the Equality Act 2010 and a new commission being created to review the UK's Human Rights Act, there is much to debate and discuss with regard to Equalities and Human Rights.

Think tanks are organisations or individuals that conduct research and engage in advocacy in areas such as social policy, politics, economics, science and technology issues, industrial relations, business policies, and military advice.

Many think tanks are not-for-profit organisations, with others funded by governments, interested parties, or businesses. Some think tanks may also receive funding for consultation and/or research work that is related to particular projects.

Think tanks can be very influential in the formulation of government policy, both locally and nationally. Further, they can serve as a very valuable resource in providing up to date information regarding current developments and thinking in their particular field.
