Equality, diversity and human rights are at the heart of GMVSS and everything that it does

Keeping you up-to-date with the latest thinking and legislation on equality and human rights
Equality is often defined as treating everyone the same, but this is a very complex subject which is both a philosophical and practical set of ideas. Equality generally refers to 'equality of opportunity' or 'equal life-chances', reducing discrimination and unfair treatment because of 'difference'. Diversity on the other hand, is about recognising and valuing difference - different cultural backgrounds, different skills and knowledge and different life experiences.
