In June 2009 the Lesbian and Gay Foundation carried out a series of shared learning events.  The aim was to increase the understanding, support and engagement of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) sector.

In particular, they wanted to enable LGB&T groups to access the development support that they needed, whilst equip Council’s for Voluntary Service (CVS) to better engage with LGB&T groups.

They used a range of publicity and marketing to raise awareness of the events and focussed on specific areas - Stockport, Bolton and Tameside, before transferring their learning to other areas of Greater Manchester. As a result:

> Partnership work has strengthened between the LGF, CVS’s and statutory organisations
> More effective signposting and increased awareness of what support is available
> CVS’s and statutory organisations have increased their engagement with LGB&T groups
