GMVSS co-ordinates and strengthens support to community groups and voluntary organisations across Greater Manchester by working together in partnership and collaboration. We have a development strategy and business plan in place for 2008-11 which highlight specific projects, milestones and what we want to achieve over the next 12 months. The projects include:
Portfolio of Support - A set of essential support services that will be available to all voluntary and community organisations across Greater Manchester.
Greater Manchester funding Portal - An accessible and central place to go to for the latest funding opportunities, information and advice.
GMVSS MarketPlace- A group purchasing project that will reduce the costs and time spent on buying goods and services for voluntary and community organisations.
Performance Monitoring Project - This project (known as the “GM2 Data Project”) will enable LIOs to understand and evidence the value of our work within the VCS as well as enabling LIOs to become more outcomes-focused.
Equality, Diversity and Human Rights - GMVSS takes a pan-equalities approach and brings equalities experts together to address controversial or difficult inequality and human rights issues.
Training - GMVSS has a training programme for member organisations to help them support frontline groups.
Communications and Engagement - GMVSS facilitates a number of networking groups, events and steering groups for its members to foster a culture of partnership and collaboration, and to share best practice.
iLearn - A shadowing and mentoring scheme to develop voluntary and community sector staff across Greater Manchester.
Thinking the Unthinkable - Helping the sector to deal with the affects of the recession and upcoming funding cuts though a series of events across Greater Mancester
