A unique selling point
MERCi is the only organisation in the country funded through the Big Lottery Basis Fund to promote and help deliver sustainable practices in third sector organisations.

Over the last 18 months, MERCi have engaged with over 60 third sector organisations across Greater Manchester in the Sustaining Change programme through workshops, sustainability audits, dedicated networking events and training sessions. We are also helping organisations to develop their sustainability policies and action plans.

What makes it a success?
It’s flexible – each programme is tailored to your organisation, whilst operating within a structured framework.
It’s inclusive – workshops are informative, interactive, fun and open to all stakeholders. The programme is FREE to any third sector organisation in Greater Manchester that is office-based and have at least one paid member of staff.
It’s realistic, practical and empowering – MERCi makes recommendations based on eight key areas of sustainability such as food and drink, energy and water, or waste but organisations decide for themselves what they want to prioritise and what they want to take forward.

“The beauty of the Sustaining Change programme is that we can be flexible in our delivery, we will tailor the programme in line with an organisations aspiration for the future" Claire Morris, Sustaining Change Programme Coordinator
